One of my favorite things to do is to see how others rebrick official LEGO builds. I do favor it when builders rebuild one that is not winter themed, but it’s just as fun to see how much more Christmasy someone can make a build.
For example, remember the LEGO Ice Skating Rink (40416)?
I mean, this is pretty darn perfect the way it is. Mr. Family Brick and I talked endlessly on how to add power functions to the turn mechanism at regular intervals. We were also looking at how to recreate this at a larger scale, so we could apply it to our own ice skating rink and the hockey rink. It’s one of our many projects. We just haven’t quite gotten to that. However, check out this alternate build!
LEGO Alternate Build Ice Skating Rink
Created by Jennifer, she shared this build on the Fans of LEGO Winter Village Facebook group. There are so many great things about this build. Let’s start with the white Santa statue.
Most of the minifigure pieces are fairly easy to find, but you might have some issues locating the white Santa hat. It’s actually found once, with a LEGO Build-A-Minifigure release in 2019 or 2020. He’s called LEGO Penguin Boy and while I can’t seem to find full information on him, he also came with a penguin:
I’m also loving the mailbox with the Santa sticker, although I cannot seem to find what set it came in.
