Happy Friday folks! It’s been a week here at The Family Brick house. The Little Brick was quarantined from school due to direct contact with a classmate. So we are huddled up for the next week and a half. Thank goodness for grocery delivery services and internet! And as such, I’ve spent a little more time perusing LEGO news feeds, which is how I found this LEGO Winter Village modular build on the LEGO Ideas website.
So, let me introduce you to LEGO Ideas Claus Toys!
Description of the LEGO Ideas Claus Toys Set
This LEGO Ideas submission was created by user Bricky_Brick, who describes the model like so:
It has snowed a lot since Santa Claus gave out his first gift, it is said that he left everything he had to give it to others, without questioning their needs. Everything happened a long time ago in a place full of magic and hope, that over the years has seen the city grow around it, and learn to live with the concrete. The most loved place in the town and without a doubt the most fun.
Claus spends many hours a day in his workshop accompanied by his robot that helps him with delicate tasks.
His niece also helps him in the store. Where, if you notice, there is no cash register.
A few meters from the workshop, there is a sports shop. Mostly winter sports, although you can find surfboards too.
The walls of both stores and the floors can be unfolded for better access for the playability and while trying to maintain consistency at the same time. Claus Toys is a suggestion to include a Christmas scene into an expert building. Every year, the Company offers us a winter scene and I wanted to collaborate in this way by turning it into a modular building.
Claus Toys contains 5 minifigures and Claus robot:
– Claus
– Athlete
– Claus Assistant
– Child
– Little girl
So let’s talk about a LEGO Winter Village Modular
As you can see, this is very much a modular build. It doesn’t quite fit the look of the winter village builds LEGO has put out for their official theme. The foot print of the build does look like it will match many of the other builds in the series, but it does rise higher than anything else.
The creator does provide a photo of the build alongside of their other modulars. You can get a better idea of its size from the photo above.
While I would probably hesitate to add it to my town, as it would throw off the quaint feel of the smaller buildings, I think it would definitely be a fun addition to a modulars town. I’d probably remove the snow details, but that’s what adds to the fun of this build. It’s a bit of a conundrum.
Regardless, super excited for this creator and my opinions on whether or not to integrate into a winter village setup do not detract from this being an amazing build! I’d buy it in a heartbeat… even if only to display it with our other LEGO Modulars or by itself.
