With Christmas just a few days away and shipping deadlines expired, you’re probably panicking about gifts. Fortunately, we have a few ideas for last minute LEGO gift ideas that won’t require any wrapping or shipping.
The best thing about these gifts? You can make the purchase and gift it with a simple email or card with a handwritten note!
While you won’t have something to give your recipient to play with on Christmas day, you’ll be able to give them the anticipation that comes with a future present. In my book, that’s a pretty great gift, too.
Are you ready? Here are some last minute LEGO gift ideas you’ll find helpful…
Online LEGO Building Classes
One of the things I’ve noticed with builders is that they sometimes tend to believe they aren’t good at building. They just need a little encouragement with ideas, a little direction or a vote of confidence.
That’s why I love the idea of online LEGO building classes. You can get one or all of those encouragers via the classes.
Sound interesting? Check out a few workshops I’ve found online:
- Dream Builders Brick Club – All About Learning
- Boone’s Build Camp
- Robotics for Kids– Tekki Uni
- Robotic Tutorials – Stemcentric
- Play-Well Online
- Online LEGO Design and Engineering Classes – Tech Know How
- Creative Engineering with LEGO Bricks Series – Ascendly
- LEGO Classes – Outschool
MOC Building Instructions
Another great last minute LEGO gift idea is MOC building instructions. There are a ton of LEGO MOC designers out there from whom you can get some really great sets. The only effort involved here is on your recipients behalf, where they have to search their LEGO stash for pieces.
This works best for someone who likes to study other builders techniques or someone who has a large stash of LEGO bricks.
If you have someone who is new to building, your best bet is to also purchase the bricks for them. Some of the marketplaces can help you do just that. But then, it no longer really works as a last minute LEGO gift, since you’ll have to wait to get the bricks shipped to you.
If you’re just going with the instructions, here are a few websites where you can purchase or download free MOC building instructions:
If you just want to provide them with a set of more generic instructions, you can also download creative box building instructions directly from the LEGO website.
LEGO Gift Cards
Of course, there’s always the gift card option. Coming straight to the rescue, LEGO gift cards are an awesome option for your last minute gift.
LEGO releases new sets on January 1st of every year. Because of that, plenty of people pool their Christmas money together to pick up the new releases. A gift card would help with the funds situation!
LEGO Subscription Box
It’s been a minute since we were subscription box members for any service. At the time we did our review of LEGO subscription box services, there were only two – Brick Loot and Brickbox. While we liked Brick Loot, we weren’t “in love” with it… and at the time the cost was a bit much for us. We stopped the subscription about 3 months later.
Nowadays, there are quite a few more subscription type services. Whether you want just loose brick, only minifigures, or a combination there of, you can have your pick of several LEGO subscription box types. Check out the list below:
Hopefully one of them will feel like a good fit for your recipient.
