We’ve had a busy holiday weekend around here. Spent the past two days tearing down our winter village (yes… sad… we know). Honestly, we would have rather been rewatching LEGO Masters or Doctor Who… oh! Or The Expanse! But back to LEGO Masters…
That was one of the shows we really enjoyed last year during lockdowns. The Little Brick was always excited to join us in the living room to family watch.
LEGO Masters Auditions Now Open!
If you hadn’t heard, LEGO Masters is now casting as they are coming back for a season 2! The show will film for 7 weeks, from February to April 2021 here in Atlanta, Georgia.
Since we’re part of our local LUG (or simply because they think our winter village is awesome), we were asked to audition. Unfortunately, we don’t have that kind of liberty with our individual jobs. Also, while we’re fairly decent builders, we’re not sure we would have enough time to speed build awesome things. We’re more “iteration” builders. We build an idea, tear some of it down, build more on the idea, tear some of it down, build again… You get the idea.
So do you feel you have what it takes to become a LEGO Master? Here’s your chance to prove it!
Yes, it’s a little late in the application process, but if you’re that good, I’m sure they’ll take you into consideration. But first, the application…
What’s in an LEGO Masters Application?
Out of curiousity, I decided to check out what the show application is like.
Questions, Questions and More Questions…
Guys – there are 50 questions on this application! It feels a bit extensive.
Aside from the expected questions such as “what is your team name”, “what do you do for a living” and “what is your relationship with your team mate”, there were plenty of other questions like:
- Write a mini bio about yourself.
- Tell us about how you grew up and what is interesting about your backstory.
- Tell us 3 interesting, random or fun facts about yourself.
- How long have you been building with LEGO bricks and how often do you build together with your teammate?
- What type of original LEGO designs have you created?
- Where do you draw inspiration from when building with LEGO bricks?
- What is your earliest memory about LEGO or building with LEGO bricks?
- On a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest) rate your skill building with LEGO bricks. Explain!
- What sets you and your teammate apart when it comes to creating original designs?
- Have you ever taught using LEGO?
- What is your favorite LEGO build that you have ever worked on? How long did it take?
- Have you ever been paid for building LEGO, sold any of your LEGO builds or been commissioned to build with LEGO?
- Have your LEGO builds ever been published or featured anywhere?
- If you and your teammate were given unlimited bricks and two weeks to create a build of your choice, describe what you would do.
- Have you ever competed in LEGO competitions?
- What would it mean to win the title of LEGO MASTER? And, How could you use a life changing grand prize?
- Please list any brick publications you read, brick events you attend or inspiring brick artists you follow!
- Do you have a website that you use professionally or personally for your LEGO builds?
- Have you been on another reality or TV series?
- Have you ever been convicted of an offense or a felony?
And Photos…
Then there’s the request for photos:
- A close up photo of yourself.
- A close up photo of you and your teammate.
- Up to 5 photos of your best original LEGO builds.
- A photo of a LEGO build created with your teammate.
And Video!
And finally, a 1-2 minute video telling them about you, your team and why you guys would be great candidates for LEGO Masters!
As you can see, the application process takes more than a few minutes. You have to really want to audition for this show. I don’t know many people who would have this kind of information ready to go, but if it sounds up your alley, you should definitely try!
Let us know… we’ll put you in contact with a few casting producers!
And good luck!
